The Transformation of Desktops - GAVS Technology

Organizations are increasingly using the web to collaborate, look up information, and manage their work. But this brings with it a new set of challenges for IT teams.

The desktop transformation will become an important part of corporate IT strategy as organizations are increasingly embracing web-based collaboration platforms.

In the past, it was difficult for people to go from using their mouse or trackpad on a desktop to using just their fingers on a touchscreen. Users had problems with not being able to find the right buttons and scrolling through pages was frustrating for many users. However, there is now an increasing number of users who say that they prefer these new, more intuitive desktops.

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution allows you to connect to one or more computers from anywhere in the world, as long as you have internet access. It has many benefits, including the ability to work from anywhere.

Different Approaches to Virtualization

The two main approaches to virtualization are Desktop Virtualization and Application Virtualization. While with Desktop Virtualization, end-users access virtual desktops, in Application Virtualization end users have access only to published applications and not the entire desktop. This type of virtualization is useful in cases where users do not need full access to a complete desktop. In both cases, the IT team can centrally manage, deliver, and monitor virtual desktops and published applications.

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is a type of computing that allows a user to access a remote computer’s desktop as if the desktop were the user's local system.

Users can use any device that can connect to the internet, such as a laptop, smartphone, tablet or even a TV. The only requirement is that they have some sort of web browser installed on their computer so they may access and use VDI. VDI requires no installation on the client device and offers an easy way for users to switch between work and personal devices with little or no transition time.

The major benefit of using virtual desktops is that it encourages employees to use various devices for work instead of just one. This provides more flexibility for employees who rely on their personal.

Features of VDI

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure or VDI refers to a system that provides a virtual desktop to a user. This virtual desktop has all the features of a physical desktop.

Some of the popular features of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure are:

- Allows remote access

- Centralized storage

- High-level security

- Multiple operating systems

The VDI has many benefits for both businesses and employees. It can help companies cut down on costs by avoiding the need to purchase expensive hardware for each employee. This means they only need to buy one physical computer with a high-end graphics card, extra RAM, and a large hard drive for all of their employees. In addition, VDI offers employees an opportunity to work from home or wherever they might be without the need for a physical office space.
